On June 3^rd, 2013, news from Department of Arts under Ministry of Culture said that dance with the name of Prepare to Exam, composed by Ms. Zhou Qianling director of Dance Teaching and Research Office under Art Performance Department of Hunan Women’s University and performed by Huang Dongmei and Ding Jin Choreography majors of 2011, was shortlisted for the final of the Tenth National Dance Competition. In the end of this month, they will compete for the national dance award in Rizhao City of Shandong Province.

The National Dance Competition is the one with the highest level in Chinese dance field, and it is the most attractive part of the Tenth Chinese Art Festival, which is a triennial national art gathering with the highest level, largest scale and deepest influence.  It is reported that the Tenth National Dance Competition is hosted by Ministry of Culture and Shandong Provincial People’s Government.

After a series of selections, 181 dances remain for the final, including 79 solo dances, pas de deux and pas de trios which are mainly performed by the art school & troupe directly under the Party Central Committee and by the art troupe of the 8 military area commands. Among these 79 dances, Prepare for Exam is the only one from regular higher educational institutions and art schools in Hunan. Therefore, this dance shows excellent creation and outstanding performance of the Choreography majors of Hunan Women’s University. (Translated by Ms. Long Min from the International Affairs Office)
