HWU Students’ Short Term International Study in Malaysia is Going Well

On September 21st, students of Hunan Women’s University (HWU) who participated in the short term exchange program of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) for the first time successfully arrived in Kuala Lumpur and began the one-month international study which is organized by the International Education Center. Twenty students and tutors from the Foreign Language Department will study Malay, Malaysian culture and English etc. They will also take part in other academic or cultural exchange activities in Malaysia.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

This activity started at the welcome meeting of UPM. The delegation of HWU was warmly welcome by UPM. The director and teachers from the International Center of UPM gave a detailed introduction to the history, specialties, characteristics and international exchange of UPM in the meeting room. UPM, founded in 1931, is a comprehensive public university developed from an agricultural college at the very beginning. It is also one of the top 5 universities in Malaysia with the largest dimensions. In 2013, HWU and UPM begin the student exchange program. This is the second chance for HWU students to visit UPM and study there after the study tour activity in the summer vacation.

After the arrival, students lived in the apartment for international students and began the study with students from all over the world. Their study, mainly in the Modern Language and Exchange College, includes such professional elective courses as spoken language exchange skills, English writing, Malay, Malaysian culture, public speaking & debating skills, mass media strategy, introduction to organizational communication etc. After a few days’, the students begin to merge in the learning and living in Malaysia gradually. In the following days, they will get well acquainted with the higher education, teaching style, religion culture and better experience the local customs and tropical charms.
