On the evening of October 15^th, 2013, Ms. Peng Peiyun, the former vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, and the honorary president of the All-China Women’s Federation met with Party Secretary Yi Yinzhen and President Luo Ting in the Second Building of Hunan Jiusuo Hotel of Hunan Provincial Party Committee.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

During the meeting, Chairwoman Peng listened carefully to both leaders’ reports on the achievements of discipline construction, talent training, enrollment and employment, and university running condition, as well as the circumstances of the characteristic specialties of Hunan Women’s University (HWU) such as Theoretical Study on Gender, Women’s Studies, Home Economics etc. Chairwoman Peng who always concerned about and supported the development of HWU, was very satisfied with the reports, sang highly praise of HWU’s achievements, and promised to support the development of HWU as usual.

Books Presented to HWU by Former Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress

Over the years, Chairwoman Peng has devoted great efforts to promote the liberation and development of Chinese women, and the research as well the practice of women’s higher education over the years. She also presented HWU with a book written by her named Theory and Practice on Women with Chinese Characteristic Socialist, which was also the achievement of the key project under the National Social Science Foundation in 2011. She hoped that HWU would give a full play to the first Women/Gender Research and Training Base in China, regard the evaluation for the authorization of bachelor's degree as a chance, enhance the research and practice of the theory on women and women’s education, carry forward the spirit of self-esteem, self-confidence, self-independence and self renewal and improve the quality of education and teaching so as to construct HWU into a women’s university with distinctive characteristics and prominent advantages.

At last, Party Secretary Yi Yinzhen and President Luo Ting expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Chairwoman Peng for her great support for HWU, and promised they would lead the whole teaching staff to work hard to construct HWU into a women’s university with distinctive characteristics and cultivate more competent women talents.
