On the afternoon of Jun.9^th 2015, Prof. Thierry Boucquey from Scripps College gave a lecture on Foreign Language and Culture to 22 teachers of the Foreign Language Department in the lab on the First Floor of Duxing Building.

Prof. Boucquey, former President of the Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association (PAMLA, the Western branch of the MLA) and former Associate Dean of Faculty, Scripps College, had published 7 academic books and plenty of articles in the academic journals and has been teaching French, French Language and Culture, Foreign Language and Culture for many years. In the 2-hour class, he vividly demonstrated the core conception, teaching strategies and technical training of the Natural Pedagogy School in second language teaching in North America. Through the demonstration of second language teaching in three different phases: primary school, middle school and university, he profoundly depicted how the foreign teachers should design lead-in activities to arouse the interest of the students, how to interact naturally in teaching to improve the communicative abilities of the students, and how to achieve the teaching goals by demonstration and exercise, etc.

After the class, Prof. Boucquey had a heated discussion on the inspiration and experience of second language teaching with the faculty of the Foreign Language Department, who expressed that they would further strengthen the English application skills of the students with reference to the teaching system learnt from Prof. Boucquey.
