Good News: HWU Has Made a New Breakthrough in Building the National First Class Undergraduate Specialties

A few days ago, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued the Notice on Publishing the List of National and   Provincial First Class Undergraduate Specialty Construction Sites in 2021. Tourism Management of Hunan Women’s University (HWU) was in the national first class undergraduate specialty list, and   three programs including Women's Studies, Broadcasting and   Hosting Arts, and   Dance Choreography were selected as the provincial top undergraduate specialty construction sites. This marks a new step in our specialty construction for HWU. At present, the university has two national first class undergraduate specialty construction sites and   eleven specialties at the provincial level.

List of National and   Provincial First Class Undergraduate Specialties

The construction of first class undergraduate specialties is an important measure to promote the "four new" construction, strengthen first class undergraduate programs, cultivate first class talents, comprehensively revitalize undergraduate education, and   improve talent training ability. It is also the core indicator of the "double first-class" construction of colleges and   universities.

The university attaches great importance and   actively plans for the construction of first-class majors. On the one hand  , according to the national and   regional development strategies, HWU has comprehensively deployed and   done a good job in the top-level design of specialty development. On the other hand  , the university takes "focusing on four major groups (strengthening one group, ensuring one group, increasing one group, and   adjusting one group), and   building four specialty groups (normal, business, home economics, and   cultural creativity)" as the guiding ideology and   practice path of undergraduate specialty construction, and   promotes the optimization of specialty structure and   improvement of connotation.

At the teaching affairs meeting, President Hu Sui requested to unite the strength, wisdom and   strategy of the whole university, and   resolutely achieve a new breakthrough in building the national first class undergraduate specialties. To this end, the university has built a working mechanism that the leaders of the school pay close attention to, the Office of Academic Affairs makes overall planning, and   all colleges promote. This breakthrough has fully reflected the new achievements of the major construction, promoted the new development of the connotation of education and   teaching, and   created a new situation of talent training.
