At the invitation of foreign universities including Kyushu Women’s University (KWU) in Japan and University Of The Philippines, a HWU delegation of nine members headed by Party Secretary Yi Yinzhen and consisting of Professor Li Junbo, Research Fellow Chen Jianxiang, Professor Li Yu, etc. paid academic tours to the universities in Japan and Philippines during the period of December 5th to 14th ,2011. The mission for the delegation was to return a visit to one of HWU’s sister schools, Kyushu Women’s University and learn about the discipline development of Home Economics and Social Welfare in Japan and Philippines, taking this as an opportunity to develop into the exchange and cooperation relationships in respect of these discipline fields with universities in Japan and Philippines.
From December 5th to 11th, the delegation stayed in Japan and visited Kyushu Women’s University and Tokyo University of Social Welfare. During the visit to KWU, HWU delegation was warmly welcomed by the President, Mr. Fukuhara and his wife and other university executives. The two universities discussed the issues concerning exchanges and cooperation. After that, the delegation continued to visit the practical training rooms of the Department of Home Economics and exchange ideas and thoughts on such academic issues as the development of Home Economics with professors in this field. In addition, Party Secretary Yi Yinzhen, on behalf of HWU, expressed warm greetings to the 11 HWU students on Junior College program of KWU. She encouraged the students to study hard and make contributions to the mother country . Then a dinner was given to the delegation by Mr. Fukuhara and other leaders of KWU.
Whereafter, the delegation visited Tokyo University of Social Welfare at its invitation. This university is internationally well-known for its feature specialty: Social Welfare, which has made great contributions to the development of Silver Industry in Japan. The delegation mainly learned about the specialty Social Welfare, visited its practical training rooms and discussed its development with the university’s leaders and experts.
During the stay in Japan, the delegation also visited Japan’s Parliament Building and the party headquarters for Liberal Democratic Party and paid a formal visit to Ms. Sonoda, the President of the All-Japan Women’s Federation and Japan-China Friendly Liaison Board. In order to promote the cultural exchanges and further the cooperation in women education between China and Japan, Ms.Sonoda agreed to give HWU a supply of the seeds of cherry blossom trees to help build a garden of cherry blossoms in HWU, which will be carried out by Japan-China Friendly Liaison Board next year. Meanwhile, Party Secretary Yi Yinzhen issued the guest professor contract to Mr. Li Daqing, the Director-General of Japan-China Friendly Liaison Board and accepted a set of valuable books presented by Mr. Li as a gift to HWU.
From December 11th to 14th, the delegation visited University Of The Philippines and Elimio Aguinaldo College.
The delegation mainly visited the College of Home Economics of University of The Philippines and its teaching facilities and practical training rooms. The college owns undergraduate programs, graduate programs and doctoral programs and is known in the world for the cradle of internationalized home economics talents. The two parties held talks cordially, discussing the development of home economics and its education in Philippines and China as well as future exchanges and cooperation.
Elimio Aguinaldo College is famous in Philippines for its majors such as Nursing, Medicine, Education, Hotel Management, Business and Mass Media,etc. which enjoy high reputation in the world. The delegation visited its Nursing School, Rehabilitation Center, and hotels and hospitals for field practices. Both sides discussed the development of Hotel Management and Nursing and the further exchange and cooperation.
During the stay in the Philippines, the delegation visited the Manila training center of a Chinese home economics company, having discussed the issues of home economics training and education and the development of domestic service industry in China.
Before returning China, on December 13th, Party Secretary Yi Yinzhen hosted a reviewing meeting. The delegation members concluded that this series of study tours had widened their sights, enlightened their thoughts, renewed their concepts and could provide some profitable ideas for HWU’s future development. Meanwhile, these study tours had increased the popularity of HWU in the international community and promoted HWU’s friendly and cooperation relationships with foreign universities, laying a solid foundation for further international exchanges and cooperation.
