The Women’s Education Worldwide 2012 Conference hosted by Women`s Education Worldwide was held in Nanjing Normal University from June 8 to 10. More than 100 women university presidents, experts and scholars from China, America, Italy, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, India and Africa have shown the newest research fruits combined with their theoretical thinking and management practice respectively from the different viewpoints of relationship between female development and higher education, women`s education faced with challenges and its future development strategy revolve around the subject of “gender issue in higher education——global and local experience”. Many famous hundred-year-old schools took part in this Women`s Education Worldwide Conference such as: Mount Holyoke College and Smith College in America, Ewha Woman’s University in South Korea and O Chanomizu University in Japan, etc.

President Luo Ting of HWU was invited to attend this Women`s Education Worldwide Conference. She reported on the subject of “the Development Course and Strategy of Chinese Women`s University” in English at the conference. In her report, she reviewed the developmental history of Chinese women higher education from the early 20th century to liberation, analyzed the value of women`s university and expounded the characteristic development strategy of women`s university. Her report has elicited the conferee strong response, among which the advanced idea enlightened the representatives. During the conference many foreign presidents, including President Lynn Pasquerella of Mount Holyoke College in America, President Elizabeth Kiss of Agenes Scott College in America, President Beverly Daniel Tatum of Spelman College in America, President Sun-UK Kim of Ewha Woman’s University in South Korea and President Sawako Hanyu of O Chanomizu University in Japan, discussed with President Luo Ting about the development of women`s university. President Luo introduced to them the developmental history and characteristic of HWU and warmly invited them to visit HWU. Meanwhile they invited President Luo to visit their universities and probe further into the female educational development of global age.

Along with President Luo Ting attending this Women`s Education Worldwide Conference was Director Wangyi of HWU Office, Director Gao Qinli of HWU International Exchange Affairs, Director Liu Renfeng of HWU Women/ Gender Research and Women Education Center and Director Liang Xiaoyan of HWU Women Studies Teaching Research Office.

Women`s Education Worldwide was launched and founded by Mount Holyoke College and Smith College in America in 2003, aimed at allying presidents of women`s university with female personages in educational circles around the world, sharing experiences of female education, facilitating the exchange and cooperation of women`s university among countries and upgrading women`s education in the world. This alliance owns 33 members of higher women`s university and college, for instance: America, Canada, Australia, Japan, France, India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and China etc. HWU joined this organization in 2010. Women`s Education Worldwide Conference has held 4 time on a global scale. This conference was organized by Ginling College of Nanjing Normal University with 97-years-old school-running history. It was the first time for China or Asia to hold a pageant of world women`s educational field. To promote equality development between men and women is to realize the historical trend of economic development, social progress and world harmony, but the key is to realize equality between men and women through education. This conference has built a platform of exchange for elite of female higher education and has made contribution to propel women`s higher education in the world.
