Approved by Hunan Provincial Education Department and Hunan Provincial Government, HWU delegation led by President Luo Ting visited Ivanovo State Textile Academy in Russia, Woosuk University and Ewha Woman’s University in South Korea from Sep 27th to Oct 5th, 2012. The mission for the delegation was to probe further into cooperation and exchange intention of discipline construction, talent-training and science research, and signed cooperative agreements with this three famous universities. Among with the delegation were Professor Huang Lihong, Cheng Heping and Tang Yubing, Associate Professor Gao Qinli and Peng Jianghong.

At first, the delegation paid a return visit to sister university of Ivanovo State Textile Academy in Russia and were warmly received by ISTA`s President Chistoboradavo and Vice President Smirnov.

A famous higher college in textile in Russia, Ivanovo State Textile Academy, was established in 1918. The university offers undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D programs with 70 majors such as Fashion Design, Art Design, and Textile Art Design, etc.

Two parties built exchange and cooperation relationship in 2006, and signed cooperation agreement with 5 years validity date. Since 2006, two parties developed fruitful cooperation and achieved satisfactory effects especially in the field of Textile Fashion Design.

Both sides discussed further cooperation between two universities and renewed cooperation and exchange agreement. The return visit opened a new situation of future exchange and cooperation. The delegation visited ISTA campus, Textile Fashion History Museum, production, learning and research center of Fashion Specialty. ISTA excellent teaching management concept could provide important reference values for HWU’s future development.

Whereafter, the delegation was invited to visit Woosuk University in South Korea. President Chel- Giu Gang had cordial talks with HWU delegation and solemn signing ceremony was held. Woosuk University was established in 1979, a famous comprehensive university in the south of Korea, and its former university for women. It has an enrollment of  10,000 students, 57 majors and offers undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D courses. Woosuk University attaches importance to international cooperation and exchanges and has established partnership with more than 100 universities or colleges from 21 countries.

Both sides discussed cooperation concerning teaching and science research, and signed cooperation exchange agreement and students exchange regulations. The delegation visited campus, dormitory and intership base including flight-cabin service simulated teaching of flight attendant major in Tourism Department, simulated bar and simulated dining room. The abundant experiences of WU`s international talent-training and students management could provide reference for HWU.

At last, the delegation was invited to visit Ewha Womans University in South Korea. EWU was established in 1887, the largest famous women`s university in the world, which owns 14 colleges, 66 departments, 32 research centers and 13 graduate schools. It has 30,000 students, among whom are more than 2000 foreign students. President Luo Ting got acquainted with EWU`s pre-president Bae-Yong Lee at Beijing Chinese-Foreign Women`s University President Forum in 2009 and EWU`s present president Sun-UK Kim at Nanjing Women`s Education Worldwide Conference in 2012, and exchanged ideas extensively with them respectively.

President Luo Ting held cordial talks with EWU`s president Sun-UK Kim, etc. President Luo spoke highly of EWU`s glorious achievement in school-running scale, science research, talent-training and international influence, and meanwhile, president Kim also valued greatly HWU`s school-running concepts and characteristics. Both sides discussed the future cooperation with common interest in discipline and talent-training, and hoping that the superintendents of international exchange affairs of two parties have in-depth discussions about exchange programmes. President Luo Ting sincerely invited President Kim to visit HWU. The delegation continued visited EWU`s campus and the exhibition of school history, and watched its promos.

Before returning China, President Luo Ting hosted a summing-up meeting. The delegation members concluded that the study tour had widened their sights, enlightened their thoughts, and would provide some profitable ideas for HWU’s future development in discipline construction, teaching management and student management.
